What's more important?

What's more important?

Postby therealjr » Tue Mar 09, 2010 11:30 pm

Notice that Slacker has joined a Facebook group which urges the RMT Union to withdraw their support of MP Kate Hoey.

Now Hoey supports the repeal of anti union legislation which has to be a good thing for the RMT.
She also supports the re-nationalisation of the Railways which would obviously be a good thing for the RMT.

But shock horror she is pro hunting.

So should all her solid socialist principles count for nothing because she supports something that the majority of the public would put way down on their list of priorities at the election?

Some of us still remember 2001

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foot ... 54053.html

"....... Kate Hoey, the Sports Minister, who made herself unpopular with some of Chesterfield's fans by criticising as inadequate the League's nine-point penalty, applauded their efforts yesterday.

"They've made great strides to rescue this awful situation. I have always stood up against financial wrongdoing in football clubs and, if any good is to come out of this, it must be for the FA to begin to vet businessmen coming into football clubs, to make sure they are fit and proper to do so........ To be fair to her she was right, in terms of punishing Brown for what he had done (and remember at that time we had only seen the tip of a VERY big iceberg) the penalty was inadequate.

A bent chairman doesn't make a bent club, Town were the biggest victims of Brown

The only fraud proved was to get Beckett on the cheap but he was actually sold by Town for LESS than the supposedly deflated purchase price

Aren't Premiership clubs living beyond their means all the time by getting quality players on long term loans?

At the end of the day the 9 points cost the club a possible championship and a bit of prize money but still allowed them to be promoted. It was less than a slap on the wrist.
Bit like Leeds going into admin the day they were relegated to try and avoid a ten point penalty the following season.

But enough of this football banter, answer the question. Why should good left wing principles be sacrificed for an issue that is way down the priority list?

Chesterfield got a nine point deduction same as many other clubs that have been penalised. Difference is Town were the only club that managed to overcome this handicap and still get promoted. Does that mean they should have had extra deduction? It's not like they waited until the end of the season and decided to deduct the amount of point that still allowed promotion.

Plenty of good union supporting MPs that don't support animal torture.

Supposing a good union supporter was into something like child porn, should we say "shouldn't punish him his politics are good" ?

You really want to compare Child Porn to Fox Hunting?
And before you say yes they are both against the law anyone found in possession of child porn would be arrested prosecuted and imprisoned.
Has Ms Hoey?
