Looking for a property to rent

Postby Cat Lady » Thu Jul 15, 2010 11:03 am

In the Abercrombie school catchment area. Needs to be 2-3 bedroom with a decent sized garden and around £100 a week.

Posting on behalf of a friend who has been given two months notice after they decided to sell the property she's in unexpectedly. She has a three year old daughter who is very happy in the area, and was looking forward to starting at the nursery this year so her mum is understandably trying to stay where her daughter is happy.

Please PM me if you can help, either with information or if you have a property! Thank you. :)

I'd have said go to the council as she's about to be made homeless. I'm sure there'llbe somewhere around that area that they have coming up for her and a 1/3 cheaper in rent too.

I'm not sure if this still stands, but when I was looking to rent, there were a number of houses available on the road that runs from Sheffield Road to Newbold Road. I can't remember the name of it, also, I had a flat in the building on the former Scarsdale Hospital site for a while which was reasonably priced and nice and big too.

Abercrombie Street? None on there....

She's talked to the council.

Thanks! :)

When viewing properties, she should ask the landlord / agent to see the EPC. (Energy Performance Certificate).

Most tenants aren't aware of this but they are legally obliged to show it you. It will give you an idea of how much the gas and electric bills are going to be. A house might look a bargain if its rent is £100 a month less than the one up the street, but if its electrically heated and costing £150 a month more in bills, no bargain.

Thanks I didn't know that! She's more concerned about the "roof over her head" part at the moment, though....

Still looking - if anyone hears of a house in that area up for rent, let me know.

My house is in the Abercrombie catchment area and we're considering renting it out to buy elsewhere.....two bed mid-terrace close to Town on quiet street.

PM me if you want to know more.

Hi Chambta,
If you do rent it out, you will need an EPC, I will do it for you at a good price, cheaper than the agents.
Give me a call when you are ready.
